Illegal aliens bill (SB799) Is Being Rushed Through The Arkansas Senate

by Kenneth Wallis: Arkansas Senate Bill 799, the in-state tuition for illegal aliens bill, is being snuck through the State Capitol quickly. After the Senate Education Committee passed the bill Wednesday, it is now headed to the full Senate Monday 3/30/09. SB799 is on the afternoon agenda. We need as many conservatives possible to contact the Arkansas Senate and urge them to vote NO on SB799.

After the morning business, the Arkansas Senate will break for lunch around noon. They should start their session around 1:30pm. Those who support illegal immigration will be lobbying the Senators to vote for SB799. Secure Arkansas should be able to have at least one officer in front of the Senate from noon until the session ends, but we would like to have a conservative groups there as well. If you want to show the Arkansas Senate how you feel about giving a discount to illegal alien students, you can join us from Noon to around 5 pm. From noon to around 2 pm is the best time. Iranian Threat

by Kerby Anderson, Point of View: Thirty years ago Iran became the first Islamic republic in modern history. We are still feeling the effects of the Iranian Revolution. And the threat may be greater than ever before.

But don't take my word for it. Consider the words of the current president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. On October 26, 2005 he said: "God willing, with the force of God behind it, we shall soon experience a world without the United States and Zionism." Three years later at an event marking the anniversary of the death of Ayatollah Khomeini, he said: "Today, the time for the fall of the satanic power of the United States has come, and the countdown to the annihilation of the emperor of power and wealth has started." And last June he proclaimed: "Get ready for a world minus the U.S."

We should not ignore these warnings from a man bent on the destruction of the little Satan (Israel) and the destruction of the great Satan (the U.S.). This is what Joel Rosenberg pleads for us to do in his latest book, Inside the Revolution.

Iran is working feverishly to build, buy, or steal nuclear weapons. No one really knows how far along the Iranians are in building a nuclear bomb. Israel believes that Iran is an eminent threat. Perhaps we should as well.

So what would Iran (or other radical Muslims) do with a nuclear weapon? Joel Rosenberg lists various scenarios from General "Jerry" Boykin. One scenario involves attaching nuclear warheads to short-to-medium-range ballistic missiles. Another suggested that radical states could load nuclear weapons onto private planes. Still another involves loading nuclear weapons onto private yachts or other boats. Another suggested that radicals could smuggle nuclear weapons or other weapons into the country to be detonated in the interior of the country. And a final scenario suggests that radicals might build and detonate "dirty bombs."

Joel Rosenberg's latest book reminds us that Iran poses a major threat to our security. It is time to consider what we must do to deal with it. I'm Kerby Anderson, and that's my point of view.

Planned Parenthood Gives Hillary Clinton Its Highest Abortion Award

Tony Perkins, FRC: This week in Houston, Texas, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton received Planned Parenthood's highest honor -- the 2009 Margaret Sanger Award. The gala, which takes place down the road from the construction of America's largest-ever abortion facility, has been in the works since Hillary's days in the Senate. To many, it reinforces the strong alliance between the Obama administration and the radical pro-abortion crowd.

As Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is the most visible American ambassador. What better way to show her support for the President's newest export -- overseas abortion -- than share the stage with one of the federal government's prime partners in that effort? According to the organization's press release, Clinton is being lauded as "a champion of women's health and rights throughout her public service career."

Of course, the question remains whether this award is even an honor. If "no one is pro-abortion," as Barack Obama insists, then why agree to be celebrated by the number one supplier of abortion in America? It's an organization whose founder embraced eugenics, targeted "the unfit" for "extinction," and whose current staff is on record as accepting racially motivated donations in seven different clinics nationwide. It's an organization that fights to bar parents from the medical decisions of their 12-year-old daughters. According to videos in at least four states, Planned Parenthood has been involved in serial statutory rape cover-ups. Allegations in California point to an estimated $180 million of fraud. In at least two states, Planned Parenthood petitioned for the construction of abortion clinics under false pretenses.

Really, is this an award that anyone--including Hillary Clinton -- should covet? Its very name, the Margaret Sanger Award, is a tribute to a woman whose life's mission was to "build a race of thoroughbreds." Planned Parenthood's long campaign to promote abortion on request, celebration of sexual libertinism, eugenics, and radical prejudice is the worst foreign policy message our nation could send--and tomorrow they crown their messenger. Missouri Scraps MIAC Report & Being Vigilant Looking to the Future

Bill Smith, ARRA Editor: The ARRA News Service previously posted an Update on Missouri MIAC Documents Scandal - Advisory on SPLC & ADL. Below are excerpts from today's column by Chuck Baldwin: Missouri Scraps MIAC Report. Pastor Chuck was one of the presidential candidates, Ron Paul and Bob Barr were the others, mentioned in the domestic terrorist MIAC alert has has a rather unique understanding of how event unfolded and actions that led to resolution of these false home land security reporting. In addition, the ARRA News Service, numerous other conservative blogs, myself and most of you -- our readers and your friends and families were also addressed in the report. ICYMI -- here's how:
On February 20, 2009, the State of Missouri, via its Department of Public Safety, issued what was called "MIAC Strategic Report: The Modern Militia Movement." In this report, people who supported Presidential candidates Ron Paul, Bob Barr, and Chuck Baldwin were referenced as being connected to potentially dangerous "militia members." But the inference did not stop there. People of "conservative" ideology were also identified in the State Police report as being potentially dangerous. People who held political opinions opposing abortion, illegal immigration, the New World Order, the North American Union, the Income Tax, the U.N., etc., were profiled in the MIAC report.. No Islamic extremists. No environmental extremists. Only people holding "conservative" or "right-wing" philosophies were identified in the MIAC report.
If you are interested in the background, the outcry and the withdrawal of the false report, read Baldwin's full article. However, below I am presenting some excerpts of Chuck Baldwin's comments that are looking toward future concerns for readers:

Dr Chuck BaldwinDr. Chuck Baldwin: . . . This sordid story is truly an embarrassment to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the State of Missouri. . . . Why DHS, you ask? Because the MIAC report is similar to several other reports currently circulating around various State police agencies courtesy of DHS-sponsored "Fusion Centers." There is another side of this story that is even more sinister, however.

If we can continue to probe the details of the MIAC report, I am absolutely convinced we will find that this report actually originates with Morris Dees and his ultra-liberal Southern Poverty Law Center. And if my hunch (a very educated hunch, I might add) is correct, it means that the DHS and various State police agencies around the country are allowing a left-wing special interest group to use them to harass, intimidate, and profile people with conservative political opinions.

I would further proffer that those of us who are outraged by this event should not stop with the MIAC report being removed. While this is very good news, the fear and intimidation associated with those referenced in this report has already taken place. Are people opposed to abortion, illegal immigration, the Income Tax, the U.N., etc., now afraid to express their opinions publicly (especially in Missouri)? If so, this seems to me to be the basis for legal action, based on the abridgment of the First Amendment freedom of speech by a State (and perhaps federal) law enforcement agency.

There is yet another chilling question that must be answered: by saying Missouri State Police will "review" how MIAC distributes intelligence reports to police officers, does Col. Keathley mean that the State of Missouri's law enforcement agencies will continue to promote similar reports, but simply make them "Classified"? In other words, will they (and other State police agencies around the country) simply employ greater secrecy when issuing such reports, but do nothing to change the content of future reports? Hopefully not, but we shall see.

With that said, here are the lessons all of us need to take to heart:
* Every police officer, deputy sheriff, and law enforcement officer in America who believes in constitutional government, individual liberty, and the Bill of Rights needs to be alert for any report that smacks of the MIAC report, and be willing to quickly "blow the whistle" on any such report they see.

* Lovers of freedom should be much encouraged to see what can happen when they are willing to stand up to their State governing officials as they see abridgements to their liberties taking place. I say again, the best way to
fight these mushrooming despotic tendencies of government we seem to see everywhere is to focus on our State governments. Do you now see why I say that? Even if DHS was behind the MIAC report, it was the State of Missouri that had to implement it; and it was the State of Missouri that (under pressure) killed it.

* Notice, too, that we did not need the major media to achieve this victory. We cut off this one branch of the tyranny tree without the help of ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, FOX NEWS (with the exception of Glenn Beck), or even the Drudge Report. Victory was achieved with the weapons of talk radio, syndicated Internet columns, Internet blogging, local news media, and word of mouth.

You see, folks, we can achieve victory without the major media. But we must stay focused and actively involved in our respective State governments. "We the people" are still the power of this country. And don't let anyone deceive you into believing anything else. Therefore, take heart in knowing that your diligence convinced the State of Missouri to rescind its atrocious MIAC report. Now, don't let it stop there. Let's faithfully cut off the tentacles of tyranny wherever we find them. . . . [Chuck Baldwin's Full Article]
We need to remain vigilant, alert and prepared for the actions by those who would silence our opposition to the growing menace of socialism or would oppose our boldly expressing conservative principles and ideals, our defense of traditional values, and our expectations to the rights and freedoms granted us by the Constitution and our Creator.

States Rebellion Pending

Patriot Post Guest essay - by Walter E. Williams: Our Colonial ancestors petitioned and pleaded with King George III to get his boot off their necks. He ignored their pleas, and in 1776, they rightfully declared unilateral independence and went to war. Today it's the same story except Congress is the one usurping the rights of the people and the states, making King George's actions look mild in comparison. Our constitutional ignorance -- perhaps contempt, coupled with the fact that we've become a nation of wimps, sissies and supplicants -- has made us easy prey for Washington's tyrannical forces. But that might be changing a bit. There are rumblings of a long overdue re-emergence of Americans' characteristic spirit of rebellion.

Eight state legislatures have introduced resolutions declaring state sovereignty under the Ninth and 10th amendments to the U.S. Constitution; they include Arizona, Hawaii, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, Oklahoma and Washington. There's speculation that they will be joined by Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Nevada, Maine and Pennsylvania.

You might ask, "Isn't the 10th Amendment that no-good states' rights amendment that Dixie governors, such as George Wallace and Orval Faubus, used to thwart school desegregation and black civil rights?" That's the kind of constitutional disrespect and ignorance that big-government proponents, whether they're liberals or conservatives, want you to have. The reason is that they want Washington to have total control over our lives. The Founders tried to limit that power with the 10th Amendment, which reads: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

New Hampshire's 10th Amendment resolution typifies others and, in part, reads: "That the several States composing the United States of America, are not united on the principle of unlimited submission to their General (federal) Government; but that, by a compact under the style and title of a Constitution for the United States, and of amendments thereto, they constituted a General Government for special purposes, delegated to that government certain definite powers, reserving, each State to itself, the residuary mass of right to their own self-government; and that whensoever the General Government assumes undelegated powers, its acts are unauthoritative, void, and of no force." Put simply, these 10th Amendment resolutions insist that the states and their people are the masters and that Congress and the White House are the servants. Put yet another way, Washington is a creature of the states, not the other way around.

Congress and the White House will laugh off these state resolutions. State legislatures must take measures that put some teeth into their 10th Amendment resolutions. Congress will simply threaten a state, for example, with a cutoff of highway construction funds if it doesn't obey a congressional mandate, such as those that require seat belt laws or that lower the legal blood-alcohol level to .08 for drivers. States might take a lead explored by Colorado.

In 1994, the Colorado Legislature passed a 10th Amendment resolution and later introduced a bill titled "State Sovereignty Act." Had the State Sovereignty Act passed both houses of the legislature, it would have required all people liable for any federal tax that's a component of the highway users fund, such as a gasoline tax, to remit those taxes directly to the Colorado Department of Revenue. The money would have been deposited in an escrow account called the "Federal Tax Fund" and remitted monthly to the IRS, along with a list of payees and respective amounts paid. If Congress imposed sanctions on Colorado for failure to obey an unconstitutional mandate and penalized the state by withholding funds due, say $5 million for highway construction, the State Sovereignty Act would have prohibited the state treasurer from remitting any funds in the escrow account to the IRS. Instead, Colorado would have imposed a $5 million surcharge on the Federal Tax Fund account to continue the highway construction.

The eight state legislatures that have enacted 10th Amendment resolutions deserve our praise, but their next step is to give them teeth.

Defend Free Enterprise

Defend Free EnterprizePreviously we reported that Gary Bauer was launching a new weekly report - Defend Free Enterprize. The report is a project of the Campaign for Working Families and you are encouraged to sign up for this report. The report dedicated to defending free enterprise, capitalism and the entrepreneurs and business people who are the backbone of America’s economic success. Bauer said,
They need defending because Washington, D.C., is currently controlled by politicians and bureaucrats who are using our economic and financial crisis as an excuse to push European-style socialism, raise taxes on our most productive citizens and grow the size and power of the federal government. In the process they are burying us and our children under massive amounts of pubic debt that inevitably will weaken and devalue our currency.

The anti-free enterprise juggernaut is fueled by a media establishment that displays more anger and hatred of American business than it does of America’s enemies. In addition, segments of the public experiencing deep financial anxiety and rising unemployment are very susceptible to raw class warfare rhetoric. There are no shortages of politicians willing to stoke those flames. There have always been populist demagogues. But today we are witnessing a new change in public discourse with the advent of “professional” leftwing agitators committed to turning public anger against investors, business owners, entrepreneurs and successful Americans, without whom there can be no economic recovery or long-term economic growth.

If you are an employer, entrepreneur, investor or simply an American who hopes to achieve the American Dream, it is essential for you to organize and take a stand now. There are millions of you. Together you can be a formidable political force to stop the dead hand of Big Government socialism from being imposed on our country.
The Campaign for Working Families has designed an easy to use presentation so that readers can blog, include in office newsletters, and share with anyone especially family and friends. Below is the information from the first edition of Defending Free Enterprise Report - 3/27/09:
Facts You Can Use: If we are going to stop the power grab by Washington’s bureaucrats and politicians, it is essential for us to have the facts. You can share these reports with co-workers, employees and in letters to your local newspapers.

  • President Obama’s federal spending this year will top $4 trillion. That is over 28% of our entire gross domestic product (GDP). This is the highest level since World War II.

  • President Obama has proposed $1.9 trillion in additional taxes on small businesses, capital gains and income. Raising taxes when the economy is weak is the opposite of what is needed to stimulate economic growth.

  • If President Obama’s budget is passed, he will add $9.3 trillion to the national debt, doubling it in six years and nearly tripling it in 10 years, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).

  • Senator Judd Greg of New Hampshire, who strongly considered becoming Secretary of Commerce in the Obama Administration, says that the Obama deficits are “unsustainable” and will bankrupt the country.

  • Here’s a brief video of one rising conservative star, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, pleading with moderate-to-conservative “Blue Dog” Democrats in the House to oppose Obama’s outrageous budget. TAKE ACTION: Please call 202-224-3121 and urge your senators and representative to oppose Obama’s budget. And please encourage others to do so as well.

How To Ruin An Economy: Virtually every solution being offered by the Obama Administration and supported by liberals in Congress is bad for our long-term economic health.

  • The president has proposed tax cuts for some families that work out to about $12 a week. To pay for those cuts, he is proposing raising the top marginal tax rate to 39%, increasing capital gains taxes, increasing taxes on self-employment income and limiting tax deductions for mortgage interest and charitable gifts.

  • He has proposed spending that in just a few years would increase the federal debt more than the entire debt accumulated in our nation’s history from George Washington to George W. Bush.

  • He is proposing a series of new energy taxes, which would hit the American heartland and Midwest particularly hard. Companies most impacted will be utilities and manufactures. Initial public estimates indicated that the new “cap and trade” fees will bring in $650 billion – another big hit to American industry. But a top White House economic advisor recently told Senate staffers in a closed meeting that they could raise as much as $2 trillion!

The Anti-Business Juggernaut: We closely monitor Congress, the federal agencies, the White House and courts. In 35 years in Washington, I have not seen an environment more hostile to business and free enterprise and more poisoned by class warfare. Here are just a few proposals being discussed by legislators/politicians, as well as other disturbing developments.

  • Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA), chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, has suggested regulating all corporate pay, not just the salaries of executives in companies that have accepted taxpayer money through TARP.

  • Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), the second highest-ranking Senate Democrat, is drafting legislation designed to encourage candidates to spurn campaign contributions from corporate political action committees in favor of public financing. Meanwhile, organized labor is pushing hard for “Card Check” legislation that would make it much easier to unionize businesses.

  • Labor unions and community groups like ACORN (the group under investigation in multiple states for voter registration fraud last year), have been sending bus loads of demonstrators to the homes of business executives to intimidate and harass them and their families.

  • Brave congressmen who have voted against massive new debt and higher taxes are being targeted in their home districts with multi-million-dollar ad campaigns paid for by a variety of leftwing socialist groups in an effort to smear them, driving down their public approval ratings now, so they can more easily be defeated in November 2010.

  • An increasing number of leftwing politicians, including President Obama, are now openly saying that government should use its power to take money away from successful Americans and redistribute it to various political constituencies.

    Today in Washington D. C. - March 27, 2009

The Senate will begin consideration of the $3.5 trillion fiscal year 2010 budget resolution. The proposal was passed by the Senate Budget Committee on a party line vote last night.

Yesterday, the Senate passed the GIVE Act, H.R. 1388, which reauthorizes, expands and authorizes more funding for AmeriCorps and a number of other national service programs. Prior to passage of the bill, the Senate rejected two amendments, one from Sen. David Vitter (R-LA), which would have prohibited funding under the bill from going to ACORN or groups affiliated with ACORN, and one from Sen. John Thune (R-SD), which would have expressed the sense of the Senate that Congress should preserve the full income tax deduction for charitable giving, which the Obama budget proposes to partially eliminate. Summary: ACORN - Obama's favorite nonprofit gets your money, and YOU do Not get to have deduction for the charitable nonprofits sources you wish to support! The Senate did adopt an amendment from Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT) expressing the sense of the Senate that Congress should preserve the charitable giving income tax deduction, but not the full deduction. Which says -- please keep the charitable deductions but let's reduce the tax break - then, we will decide who get their money - uh, like ACORN.

Democrats in Congress prepare to bring their versions of the budget resolution next week. But, they’ve scrapped transparency, but kept the spending. A new Gallup poll shows support for the president’s budget clearly eroding despite his media blitz. Jennifer Rubin summarizes, “At the end of February, 44% of those polled were positive [about the Obama budget]. Now only 39% are.”

Mark Tapscott noted that this decline “follow[s] three weeks of intense political blitzing that included a presidential news conference, an appearance on Jay Leno's late-night show, a 60 Minutes interview, multiple interviews with regional media outlets, personal lobbying of congressmen by the president, Democratic National Committee and third-party advertising and grass-roots work to rally the troops and generally sympathetic coverage in mainstream media.” Not only that, there have been third party ads, some targeted at Democrats, airing all over the country urging support for the budget. Yet support for the proposal has dropped five points.

In the poll, conducted after Obama’s Tuesday prime time press conference, support for the budget fell among Democrats, liberals, independents, and moderates. Liberal support dropped nine points, moderate support dropped eight points, and support from Democrats and independents each fell five points. It appears Obama’s budget is facing more resistance from within his own party. However, the Teleprompter knows that popularity doesn't matter to him at this time as it will before re-election in four years. Right now, he is playing "all-in" poker risking all of our lives on major bets without concern for the consequences.

Meanwhile, concerns are even being by Democrats over the subject of reconciliation instructions - rules that can be included in a budget to fast-track consideration of legislation and prevent it from being filibustered. Despite objections from some Senate Democrats who consider the idea “an outrage” and “inconsistent with the [Obama] administration’s stated goals of bipartisanship,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid seem interested in using reconciliation to move health care and carbon cap-and-trade legislation. Politico notes today, though, that Pelosi’s insistence is not sitting well with Senate Finance Committee chairman Max Baucus, whose committee would play a key role in any health care overhaul. “On Thursday, Baucus (D-MT) told Politico that the House was making a big mistake by going that route, saying putting health care through the budget process would prompt a partisan battle that will undermine health care policy.” Further, Politico reports, “Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska, a conservative Democrat who is skeptical of the proposed spending increases, said adding reconciliation provisions would cost Democrats his vote. ‘It’s a deal breaker,’ Nelson said Thursday.”

It looks like Democrats will have to spend time next week building support among their own rank and file for a budget that they know spends too much, taxes too much, and borrows too much. However, it also clear that the Pelosi, Reid and Obama do not care about what the majority of the population feel, desire or want. They know they have this unique time period in which to push socialism onto the backs of Americans. They are not ignorant of what they are doing.

Although some of those Democrats, who claim to be conservatives (DINOs), and the Republicans "in name only (RINOs)" are now fainting or express concerns, the fact is they prostituted themselves with and before liberals. Now they have no voice, power, or respect among liberals or conservatives. Since they cannot be trusted by the real conservatives, theses DINOs and RINOs hang around the halls of Congress waiting for a friendly word from the liberals who despise them but are willing to give them something when their vote is needed. So, what impact impact will they have on the Teleprompter's budget and Peloisi's and Reid's agenda? Most likely nothing. The only "hope" for America, is to return conservatives to Congress and eventually to the White house. In the mean time, visit a Tea party Rally in your area and meet and be assured that others are concerned just like you!

URGENT ACTION - Arkansas - HJR1014 - Equal Rights Amendment (ERA)

HJR1014 is on the agenda again in the House State Agencies Committee for tomorrow morning. Please contact your representative about this bill. Here is a recap of a former Secure Arkansas email dated March 2, 2009, regarding this bill:

Phyllis Schlafly traveled to Arkansas and joined in the 2007 debate at the Capitol here. See: Phyllis Schlafly Speaks Out For Women & Opposes ERA Amendment

This issue has been around since 1972 and was ratified by 35 states, but there are good reasons why it has not become law in all this time. Here are some reasons no state has ratified the ERA since 1977:

    • ERA would require taxpayer funding of abortions. Several states have ruled the ERA requires taxpayer funding of Medicaid abortions. For example, New Mexico’s state supreme court ruled that its State ERA requires taxpayer funding of abortions because, since only women undergo abortions, the denial of taxpayer funding is “sex discrimination.” (N.M. Right to Choose/NARAL v. Johnson, Nov. 25, 1998.) We must NOT give courts this power.

    • ERA would allow the courts to legalize same-sex marriages. Courts in four states have ruled that ERA’s ban on “sex” discrimination requires marriage licenses to be given to same-sex couples. In Maryland and Washington, those decisions were overturned by a one-vote margin in higher courts, but ERA gives the power to judges to rule either way. We must NOT give supremacist judges this power!

    • ERA would deprive wives and widows of their “dependent wife” benefits in Social Security. Ruth Bader Ginsburg explained this effect of ERA in her book, “Sex Bias in the U.S. Code,” and she reasserted this in her opinion in the Supreme Court Partial Birth Abortion case in 2007.

    • ERA would require young women to register for military service (even though we don’t have a draft). If they fail to register, they would immediately lose their federal college grants and loans, and they would never be able to get a federal job.

Action: Please view the video and then phone your Arkansas State Senator at (501) 682-2902 and Representative at (501) 682-6211 tell them to vote NO on ERA. See Also: ERA Again - Six Reasons to Oppose the ERA

Update on Missouri MIAC Documents Scandal - Advisory on SPLC & ADL

As reported by several blogs and eventually news sources, a national scandal emerged in Missouri, after their MIAC Fusion Center issued an eight page document which made many false claims. The documents attempted to politicize police and cast suspicion on millions of Americans. The 'Missouri Documents', as they came to be called, listed over 32 characteristics police should watch for as signs or links to domestic terrorists, which could threaten police officers, court officials, and infrastructure targets.

Police were instructed to look for Americans who were concerned about unemployment, taxes, illegal immigration, gangs, border security, abortion, high costs of living, gun restrictions, FEMA, the IRS, The Federal Reserve, and the North American Union / SPP / North American Community. The 'Missouri Documents' also said potential domestic terrorists might like gun shows, short wave radios, combat movies, movies with white male heroes, Tom Clancey Novels, and Presidential Candidates Ron Paul, Bob Barr, and Chuck Baldwin!

The ALIPAC has issued a national advisory to all local, state, and Federal law enforcement agencies and officers, along with all DHS Fusion Centers, a warning against any reliance upon faulty and politicized research issued by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and Anti Defamation League (ADL). The Southern Poverty Law Center was cited as a research source for the 'Missouri Documents'. Furthermore, the attempt of these documents to cast suspicion of violent and life threatening behavior on millions of Americans who are concerned about these issues is consistent with the regularly released political materials of both the SPLC and ADL.

Since the SPLC was listed as a source in the MIAC Missouri Documents, ALIPAC sent a letter of inquiry to the Missouri Governor Jay Nixon on March 20, 2009 asking for more specific sourcing information. "When many of us read these Missouri Documents we felt that the false connections, pseudo research, and political attacks found in these documents could have been penned by the SPLC and ADL," said William Gheen of ALIPAC. "We were shocked to see credible law enforcement agencies disseminating the same kind of over the top political propaganda distributed by these groups."

Colonel James F. Keathley, Superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol issued a letter of response to ALIPAC and other sources on March 25-26, which states that the Missouri militia documents are being withdrawn, more oversight will be applied to future releases, the Missouri Documents do not meet the high quality standards expected from the MIAC, and that "certain subsets of Missourians will not be singled out inappropriately in these reports for particular associations."

FOX Radio Network is reporting that Missouri Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder (R-MO) has asked that Missouri Public Safety Director John Britt be placed on administrative leave. The report also says Kinder has issued a public apology to Presidential candidates Ron Paul, Bob Barr, and Chuck Baldwin.

ALIPAC would like to advise all media sources, law enforcement officers and agencies, that the ADL and SPLC are political organizations, with stated political goals and agendas which are contrary to the candidates, political parties, and millions of Americans besmirched by the MIAC documents. While both the ADL and SPLC actively market themselves and seek roles as advisers to law enforcement and the media, both groups regularly engage in political tactics like those observed in the now withdrawn Missouri Documents. Materials from one or both organizations contributed to this scandal.

"In the past, these groups have served a helpful role in America by providing information about racist and potentially violent groups like the KKK and Neo Nazis," said William Gheen. "Unfortunately, their mission has drifted into political efforts to paint almost any American or group who opposes their broader political agendas as being associated with racist or potentially violent groups just like what we saw in these scandalous MIAC documents in Missouri."

ALIPAC hopes that future scandals can be avoided by issuing this advisory and promoting awareness of the faulty information distributed to police and media in America by the Anti Defamation League and Southern Poverty Law Center to prevent future scandals of this nature.

Card Check Bill May Cause FedEx to Cancel Airplane Order

CARD CHECK is PAYBACK from Obama and liberal Congressional leaders to the UNIONS for their campaign support! What business will be killed next? Consider the contract clause between FedEx and Boeing.

MemphisBusiness Journal: FedEx Corp. is dangling the possibility of canceling a multibillion-dollar order for airplanes should Congress help its workers unionize.

The Memphis-based carrier noted in its third-quarter filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that in January it exercised its option to purchase 15 additional Boeing Corp. B777F aircraft with an option to purchase 15 more. The planes are valued at $256.5 million each, according to a Wall Street Journal report. Apparently that contract had some hefty clauses that were alluded to in the earnings report. [That is $3.847 Billion for the first 15 aircraft and another $3.847 Billion for the next 15 - a lot of jobs and employment opportunities.]

“Our obligation to purchase these additional aircraft is conditioned upon there being no event that causes FedEx Express or its employees not to be covered by the Railway Labor Act,” according to the filing. That clause is significant as Congress considers a bill that would change FedEx’s regulatory oversight from the Railway Labor Act to the more union-friendly National Labor Relations Board.

FedEx spokesman Maury Lane told the Wall Street Journal the clause makes perfect sense for a company of FedEx’s size and financial commitment. “It’s difficult to make large-scale capital investments like airplanes if you are unsure if you are going to be able to fully utilize them,” Lane was quoted as saying to WSJ. The B777F has a payload capacity of 103 tons and competes with Airbus’ A380F, which FedEx canceled an order for over the B777F in 2006. . . .

Less than half of Arkansas voters approve of Blanche Lincoln

Blanche LincolnK. Ryan James: When a Democratic polling firm puts this out, things aren't so good looking.

    Lincoln could be in trouble

Raleigh, N.C. – The second part of Public Policy Polling’s Arkansas survey finds tepid approval ratings for Senator Blanche Lincoln.

45% of voters support the job she’s doing while 40% say they disapprove of her work. Hurting Lincoln’s numbers are poor marks from independents, only 31% of whom say they approve of her performance while 50% rate her negatively. 73% of Democrats but only 22% of Republicans express approval.
The report goes on to say that Mrs. Lincoln has a head-to-head advantage over two possible Republican challengers (Tim Griffin and Gilbert Baker), and that the challengers have negative opinion rating, despite the fact that over half of those surveyed have no opinion on Messrs. Griffin and Baker.

After all, this is a Democratic poll. To put this all in perspective, the same Democratic poll praised the fact that President Obama scored a higher approval rating of 47% "in a state where he got licked last year."

One more tidbit; among Democrats, Mr. Obama has an 80% approval - seven points higher than Mrs. Lincoln. Again, not a good sign when you are up for re-election in 2010 and running behind a president who lost your state by 20 points.

Maybe that Biden visit wasn't the smartest move? Sen. Lincoln's good friend and colleague from Arkansas, Sen. Mark Pryor, fared much better - with a 54% approval rating.

    Today in Washington D. C. - March 26, 2009

Yesterday, the Senate failed to get the 60 votes needed to waive the Budget Act on an amendment from Sen. Mike Crapo (R-ID) to increase the borrowing authority of the FDIC by a vote of 48-49. An amendment from Sen. John Ensign was tabled. The Senate also confirmed David Kris to be an assistant attorney general.

Today, the Senate again resume consideration of the motion to proceed to H.R. 1388, a bill which would significantly expand AmeriCorps and boost its funding. Action on the bill is expected to be completed today. Roll call votes on amendments are expected throughout the day. The best action from on this bill would be to vote it down, not only can we not afford it, but liberals and the Telepromptor seem to be enamored with morphing AmeriCorps into a nightmare of potential "brownshirts" for our future.

Though there was a lot of discussion over the last couple of days of changes that Senate Budget Committee chairman Kent Conrad and Democrat leaders were planning to make to the Obama budget plan, it’s clear today that main thing that they decided to change was the amount of transparency in the budget. Today, The Washington Post takes Conrad and Democrats to task for resorting to gimmicks they previously praised Obama for eliminating, “Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-N.D.) and House Budget Committee Chairman John M. Spratt Jr. (D-S.C.) were spooked by a Congressional Budget Office analysis of President Obama’s $3.6 trillion proposal that found the government would run a deficit of $9.3 trillion (or $2.3 trillion more than estimated by the White House) over the next decade. They are right to be spooked, and their instincts to try to pare back those looming deficits are correct. But their responses have been to resort to the gimmickry that Mr. Obama sought to get away from. While it makes their budgets look better on paper, it does nothing to improve a dangerous fiscal picture. . . . There’s no mystery as to the motivation for this dishonesty. Like Mr. Obama, the Democrats in Congress want to spend more on education, energy and other popular programs. Like Mr. Obama, they don’t want to level with voters about the need to pay for such programs through increased taxes. According to the CBO, Mr. Obama’s budget plan would have the government spending more than 23% of gross domestic product throughout the second half of this decade while collecting less than 19% in revenue. Rather than fix this problem, Mr. Conrad in his budget proposal closes his eyes and wishes it away.”

Meanwhile, The San Diego Union-Tribune criticizes Obama for the lack of candor in his rhetoric on the budget. “Now, to his discredit, Obama is simply ignoring these grim fiscal realities. The president argues that to put America on track for a better future, he has no choice but to pursue enormously costly expansions of government health coverage and government regulation of energy use and production. But he must acknowledge that his ambitions have a jaw-dropping price tag. . . . Instead, Obama refused to be accountable.”

It’s precisely the “jaw-dropping price tag” on the budget that Conrad and Obama are looking to conceal, especially given the heartburn it continues to generate for moderate Democrats. Politico reports today that far-left groups MoveOn.org and Americans United for Change (a union-backed group) are targeting centrist Senate and House Democrats, demanding they support a budget they know spends, taxes, and borrows too much. Even Obama’s former campaign organization, Organizing for America, has been urging its members to contact Indiana Democrat Sen. Evan Bayh about Obama’s budget, according to a report from Amanda Carpenter.

It’s unfortunate but expected that Democrats seem to think it’s necessary to eliminate some of the initial candor in the Obama budget in their efforts to sell the massive proposal to their own members and to the rest of the country. The Teleprompter's campaign organization is out there interfering in the legislative process like the union thugs will be used to force workers to sign-up under Card Check verses having the right to a secret vote.

The continued behind the scene's use by a candidate of their campaign organization after having been elected may be unequaled in U.S. history. However, world history displays similar abuses of power. When U.S. Senators and Representatives must worry about their constituents being hounded and harassed not by independent free thinking fellow citizens but by a President's organized campaign machine, like "Organizing for America," we can begin to understand part of the context of how the Caesars and Hitlers of the past got their way by controlling the masses and thus the governing bodies of their days. While Obama may not be a despot, he and his staff's use of his campaign machine evidences a willingness to do anything to get their way. Our forefathers set up check and balances (separation of powers) for a reason but everyday these safeguards seem to be eroding.

A Citizen's View - Elliott's End Run on Unconstitutional Tuition for Illegal Aliens

Joe McCutchen. Arkansas Freedom: . . . without notice Elliott and the two buffoons [Jeffress brothers] ran the illegal Mexican alien in-state tuition Bill through committee without public notice. Governor Mike Beebe, are you going to allow this kind of conduct to permeate your legislative session? I hope you will act with undo speed.

Chancellor G. David Gearhart and his and others relationship to Elliott’s travesty that absolutely does not recognize the Constitution or the rule of law. As I suggested yesterday, some of Gearhart’s testimony before Elliott’s committee were outright lies which I will not take the time to enumerate here, but if called on I will be happy to do.

For the Chancellor to testify against the Constitution and the rule of law and in the face of Gov. Beebe’s proclamation that Elliott’s Bill is unlawful begs that Gearhart resign his position immediately. In addition to the aforementioned legal violations, he has betrayed Arkansas citizens and proven once again he is a shill for the Arkansas Friendship Coalition and has a “For Sale” sign on his back, and more importantly as the leader of the state’s flagship university it is unnerving to see the negative influence he is propagating on our college youth.

As I indicated yesterday I was going to be in touch with the Chancellor’s office in Fayetteville in a non-belicose manner to query him regarding his statements and positions and make known to him a multitude of facts that he seems to be unaware of. Specifically I was going to inquire about his mode of transportation and other amenities to Little Rock for his testimony.

My first call to the Chancellor’s office was met with a bureaucrat’s typical response, “he’s in a very important meeting”, would you like to have him call you…answer, absolutely. Later in the afternoon a woman who claimed to be his executive secretary called claiming the Chancellor was overwhelmed with other important activities. So much for that capsule of arrogance. The secretary said she took excellent notes and I said fine, I have a number of issues I want to pursue with him and I expect concise answers. Fast foreward.

I asked the secretary what the mode of transportation was for the Chancellor to go to L.R. for Elliott’s circus. She was fuzzy in her answer and after pursuing the point in a more intense manner she half-way admitted he flew in the University’s (taxpayers) airplane and was non-commital about the accompanying entourage, and other details. His using the university’s airplane for non-university business must be unlawful, i.e. political chicanery. An FOIA will be filed immediately regarding expenditures and other related items.

Pressing further, she stated Senator Sue Madison commanded the Chancellor to appear in LR to testify and that made it university business. Since when is violating U.S. law, Arkansas state law, University business and how is it that Madison has the political power to order this man? Madison’s conduct, along with other sordid activities, indicates that this illegal alien Bill and its handlers is nothing short of a criminal cabal. . . . my condolences to the destruction of middleclass Arkansans. Who pays for this corrupt largesse to criminal illegal aliens?

URGENT ACTION - SB799 – Resurrected & Illegal Alien Education Bill Passed AR Senate Committee

Elliott's Bill SB799 (post secondary education for illegal aliens) was resurrected today (it had previously failed on Monday) and passed out of committee. Dr. G. David Gearhart, Chancellor of the University of Arkansas system, testified before the committee today in favor. He said, " Hispanics are hard-working people.” He goes on to say “Northwest Arkansas wouldn’t have been built without them”….referring to illegal aliens. Tell us, Dr. Gearhart: Who built and sustained this preeminent society? Was it the illegal aliens? Of course not. They couldn't do it in their own countries, and now they want (and expect) the full rights to our communities and state.

It will now go to the full Senate for a vote. Should this bill win the floor vote in the Senate it will immediately go to the House. The pro-illegal community will not take “no” for an answer. They will continue their efforts to beat you down until they can win. PLEASE DO NOT LET THEM WIN. SPEAK UP, SPEAK NOW. Please forward to your friends & family and call State Senator & State Representative immediately and insist they vote NO on this bill: AR House of Representatives 501-682-6211 AR Senate 501-682-2902

Students under Elliott's Bill Would Have to Commit A Crime to Get a Job After They Graduate -- Stealing A Citizen's Identity Would Be the Most Likely Crime

At legislative hearings on HB1525, in 2005, a bill to give scholarships and in-state tuition by Joyce Elliott, several presidents of colleges spoke in favor of the bill. However when asked one by one by Senator Bisbee if they would hire these students when they graduated, these university presidents ALL admitted they would not. They knew they had to answer this way; otherwise they would be confessing they would be willing to be involved in criminal activity by hiring them.

Why Presidents Had to Say This: Pat Reilly, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency, reported May, 08. "At the workplace, either the employer is knowingly hiring illegal immigrants or the job applicants are using fraudulent documents to get work, both of which are crimes beyond immigration offenses, Reilly said." (Taken from article, "North Carolina Pushes Ban on Illegal Immigrant Students" May 21, 2008

Signing an affidavit of intention included in the bill is just a deceitful smoke screen. Children of illegal aliens become illegal themselves and subject to deportation at 18 1/2 (unless they were born on US soil). Therefore, college undocumented students are unlawfully present here and cannot lawfully operate and hold jobs, so it makes no sense to use taxpayers' money to subsidize their education or to tempt them to steal a citizen's identity in order to get a job. To become naturalized these students would have to go back to Mexico or other country and be put on a waiting list. If these students apply for citizenship before going back to Mexico or other country, legally they could and should be deported at that time. As Senator Bisbee said in 2005, if his children were in that situation, they would have more sense than to do that, and he felt sure these college-age illegal aliens would have more sense too. It would be easy for them to SAY they intend to legalize their immigration status, but they won't under the circumstances.

    Here is the law: TITLE 8 > CHAPTER 14 > Sec. 1623.
Section 1623. Limitation on eligibility for preferential treatment of aliens not lawfully present on basis of residence for higher education benefits (a) In general, Notwithstanding any other provision of law, an alien who is not lawfully present in the United States shall not be eligible on the basis of residence within a State (or a political subdivision) for any postsecondary education benefit unless a citizen or national of the United States is eligible for such a benefit (in no less an amount, duration, and scope) without regard to whether the citizen or national is such a resident. (b) Effective date This section shall apply to benefits provided on or after July 1, 1998.
    ---------------------
Appeals Court Ruled in 08 that California Had to Reimburse ALL students who had paid out-of-state tuition while Illegals received in-state tuition. Quote from article below on California ruling (Emphasis added.) "The court also granted injunctive relief to nonresident American students, meaning that they must be permitted to pay in-state tuition. Students who have already paid out-of-state tuition rates must be reimbursed." (Ruling was unanimous)

Governor Beebe was also quoted in a newspaper article in January 25, 09 as saying, "We can't afford to give scholarships and in-state tuition to every child of every American citizen in the other 49 states. Since you can't do that, you can't do that with illegal aliens either. It's real simple.” Yet, Elliott still insists that it will cost taxpayers nothing. She has to know that the state funds higher education and that the taxpayers would foot the bill for the instate tuition for the illegal aliens. In 2001 the state funded 58% of higher education. Tuition only funded 35%. So taxpayers would be funding the illegal aliens' tuition. [Source]

Also, note the California's ruling on Illegal Aliens in a bill that is almost just like Elliott's. "California's In-State Tuition Policy for Illegal Aliens Is Unconstitutional, Rules State Appeals Court Precedent Setting Ruling May Be Used to Challenge Many State Benefits for Illegal Aliens, Says Immigration Reform Law Institute" WASHINGTON -- A three judge panel of the California Court of Appeals unanimously ruled . . .that a California law intended to permit illegal aliens to attend public colleges and universities at in-state tuition rates is unconstitutional because it conflicts withfederal law, and violates both the equal protection clause and privileges and immunity clause of the constitution. Ruling in the case of Martinez et al. v.Regents of the University of California, brought by the Immigration Reform LawInstitute (IRLI) on behalf of some 80,000 nonresident American students whowere denied in-state tuition benefits, the Appeals Court agreed that California policy violates expressed provisions of both the Immigration Actand the Welfare Reform Act of 1996. The 1996 Immigration Act states that "an alien who is not lawfully present inthe United States shall not be eligible on the basis of residence within a State...for any postsecondary education benefit unless a citizen or national of the United States is eligible for such a benefit..." In their ruling, the judges concluded that a California law that recognizes illegal aliens as residents for the purpose of attending public colleges and universities at taxpayer subsidized tuition rates, "does, and was intended to, benefit illegal aliens" - a benefit that the state fails to provide to U.S. citizens from other states. The court also granted injunctive relief to nonresident American students, meaning that they must be permitted to pay in-state tuition. Students who have already paid out-of-state tuition rates must be reimbursed. "

    Concealed carry foils Wal-Mart robbery

K.Ryan James - I figure this bit of information will be the bane of concealed carry opponents nationwide:
A man carrying a concealed .357 pistol foiled a robbery in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart at Cantrell and Chenal about 11:30 p.m. Monday night, the LR police said.

John Antonetz, 63, and his wife Lydia, 57, were loading groceries when a man tried to rob them, the report said. As the robber tried to take her purse, Antonetz ”went around to the passenger side of the vehicle and retrieved his revolver from his concealed holster in his pants. Mr. Antonetz then went to the rear of the vehicle and observed Suspect 1 pointing a revolver at his wife. Mr. Antonetz then shot at Supsect 1 three times and once more when Suspect 1 got into Vehicle 1.” He drove away with two other people.

Suspects were stopped in traffic shortly after, but released because of miscommunication about the description of the getaway car. The video camera tape was used later, however. And police made arrests at UAMS where one of the suspects had gone for treatment of a gunshot wound.

Jonathan Terry, 24, of England; Sherry Battles, 25, of North Little Rock, and Tequila Rice, 22, of Lonoke, were charged with the robbery. Terry was admitted to UAMS for surgery on a gunshot wound to the buttocks, Today’s THV reported. Police said Battles and Rice were non-cooperative and a “minor use of force” was necessary to cuff Rice.
Editor, ARRA News: Thief Terry was very fortunate that Mr. Antonetz was either a good shot and tried not to kill Terry (a bad choice since Terry had a gun) or was a bad shot. Wonder who now pays for Terry's medical costs? Also, if we had open carry in Arkansas, would these thieves have avoided anyone openly showing the were prepared to defend themselves?

SB799 fails! Arkansas will not give in-state tuition for illegals.

by Kenny Wallis, Keep Arkansas Legal: SB799, the in-state tuition for illegal aliens bill, was defeated in the Senate Education Committee. I want to thank all those who called their legislators about SB799. . . . Joyce Elliott first introduced SB799 and then took questions from the Senators. In the following video: Senator Kim Hendren asks Joyce Elliott about the legal problems that will occur if SB799 were to pass. Joyce Elliott attempts to claim that the legal problems have been somehow resolved and then claims that it doesn't really matter. After this video, there is testimony from those for and against SB799. That video footage will be posted at a later time. [ARRA Note: an update for the additional video will be made when the video is mae available.]

    Has Obama Ruined America? [Video]

Bill Smith, ARRA Editor: On March 19, 2009, Obama had Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner arrange with U.S. Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke for the U.S. Federal Reserve (the Fed) to"Invest" the 1 trillion dollars in buying the U.S. held mortgage debt. Where did the Fed get the $1 Trillion? They just printed it. The fed created this money out of thin air in an imitation of Germany in the 1920s and 30s. The Australian Business News said, "It's an ominous day when the world's economic superpower starts printing money to buy its own government's debt."
We have lunatics running (or worse, ruining) our economy. The following Glen Beck video describes the event and demonstrates what is a trillion dollars. You listen and then you decide! By the way, all this happened while we were focusing on the alleged outrage concerning the AIG payment of bonuses. Compared to what the Teleprompter (Obama) Administration just did to our country, the AIG bonus payments were lunch at the administration's budget office. And tonight, President Teleprompter spoke to the nation in an effort to sell us even more fluff, stuff and debt for America's future.

    The Teleprompter & His Binky

by Ozark Guru aka ARRA Editor: RedState like many others has noted that President "Obama and his teleprompter are big news lately." As noted in an earlier post, I have affectionately assigned Barack Obama a new code name: the Teleprompter. If his security detail has already done this and will let me know, I will give them full credit for their wisdom in doing so as well. Teleprompter is fairly easy to take notice as he relies greatly on his "Binky" --a teleprompter -- which having been repeatedly worn out overtime is often replaced and upgraded by his teleteckies. Note our prior post on a Personal Obama Prompter that may revolutionize the development of future politicians and other assorted individuals. As Caleb reports at Redstate:
As Vodka Pundit noted in his weekly summary, the right-o-sphere saw the meteoric rise of a new star, Barack Obama’s Teleprompter’s blog last week. Also last week, an hilarious twitpic by Right Scoop (see photo upper right) made the rounds, even garnering an approving mention by Maja Rushie himself. The Tonight Show special olympics slam only further illuminates the crux of the issue. Some liberals pretend not to understand what the fuss is about. They pretend not to understand that we are saying Obama can’t make words happen without his binky.
Today we thank Caleb for putting together his video photo essay featuring The Teleprompter and his teleprompter (blinki). Please accept Caleb's invite to join him "for a walk down memory lane" in a photo show he titled “Binky: A Man and His Brain”: [Video] +====>>

    Today in Washington D. C. - March 24, 2009 - Congress Against the Teleprompter

With Senate Democrats set to unveil their budget plan tomorrow after the Teleprompter* goes live tonight to the general public, there continues to be a great deal of unease, especially among moderate Democrats, about the Obama proposal, which spends too much, taxes too much, and borrows too much. But remember, it does not take 60 votes in the Senate to push forward the Decade 9.3 Trillion Deficit building budget. It only takes one more yes vote than the number of no votes be that 41 to 40; 51 to 49, etc.

Roll Call reports today, “Prospects for President Barack Obama’s budget priorities are dimming as moderate Democrats in both chambers look to trim his spending and slow his plans for a cap on carbon emissions. Obama’s $3.6 trillion budget blueprint has come under fire by the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition in the House, which wants to limit domestic discretionary spending to the rate of inflation — far less than Obama wants.” But even then, let's be realistic, the House Blue Dogs are in fact blue because that have lost most of their bite lately. They appear to be a bunch of dogs mauled by a possessed bear who are also rejected by the liberals in control who don't like the lingering smell of any form of conservatism. Remember, the committee positions held by Blue Dogs mean more money in each of their pocket so who wants to irritate the [W]itch that inhabits the Speaker's chair.

On the Senate side, Senate Budget Committee chairman Kent Conrad (D-ND) has reportedly been indicating discomfort with the levels of spending and borrowing in the administration proposal for some time now, especially in light of the higher CBO estimates of the budget’s cost released on Friday. According to CongressDaily, Conrad “declined to provide details about the FY10 discretionary spending level in the resolution but indicated it would likely be less than Obama's $1.13 trillion request. He added he ‘asked for significant savings from all committees of jurisdiction ... there has to be some fairness in addressing this burden.’”

As Sen. Judd Gregg, ranking Republican on the Budget Committee, explained at a press conference yesterday, “The debt under President Obama's budget goes straight up -- straight up in the next five years and it continues on up. . . . Seventeen trillion dollars worth of debt at the end of 10 years, $11 trillion at the end of five years. This translates into a debt-to-GDP ratio which we have not seen in this country since the end of World War II when we were trying to pay off the war debt.”

That might explain all the talk about using the reconciliation process to push President Obama’s expensive and complicated health care and carbon cap and trade (read: energy tax) plans. Reconciliation puts bills on a fast-track process through Congress, restricting amendments, and prevents them from being filibustered, meaning they require only at most 51 votes to pass.

However, a few Senate Democrats appear to be uncomfortable with this, most notably Conrad previously mentioned and according to Politico, “Sen. Robert C. Byrd (D-W.Va.), the Senate’s longest-serving member and father of reconciliation, has tried to drum up opposition to the idea of pushing substantive legislation through the budget reconciliation process. And Sen. Tom Carper (D-DL) warned Monday that Democrats could do ‘serious damage to our bipartisan effort’ if they start talking ‘in earnest about putting [health care reform] in reconciliation.’” And Roll Call notes, “Conrad told CBS’ “Face the Nation” he will not include reconciliation in his budget proposal for either health care or climate, arguing that the fast-track procedure should be reserved for deficit reduction.”

Politico reports that Republicans have also warned against using reconciliation,: “[A] senior Republican Senate aide said the GOP could respond to such a move by going ‘nuclear’ — essentially shutting down the Senate through the use of parliamentary maneuvers such as forcing the reading of bills and amendments and prohibiting committees from meeting for more than a few hours at a time.”

The Republicans "hope" that Democrats in Congress and the administration would take seriously the advice of moderate Democrats about the level of spending, borrowing, and taxation in the budget and about backing away from reconciliation plans. However, they are also upgainst the Teleprompter who will speak to the Nation tonight to push his agenda. [*the Teleprompter = Barack Obama]
